Lodge in tents nestled in the Nogaatsa section of Chobe National Park, overlooking Kwikamba Pan. 12 elevated tents, guided safaris and wildlife nearby.

Nogaatsa Pan Lodge is the sole accommodation in the Nogaatsa section of Chobe National Park. Overlooking Kwikamba Pan, a depression where elephants and antelopes gather to drink, it serves as an isolated base for exploring a rarely visited corner of the park.

Why choose this lodge

Nogaatsa Pan Lodge stands out for its singular position: as the only establishment in the Nogaatsa section of Chobe National Park, it delivers an unrivaled safari experience. Four artificial waterholes have been created around the property to concentrate wildlife, observable directly from the tents. Large animals appear within a 5-kilometre radius, minimizing vehicle journeys and fuel consumption.

The lodge operates with genuine sustainability measures: solar energy powers the rooms, boreholes supply water, and guest capacity is intentionally limited. All set against a backdrop of mopane forests and grasslands typical of northeastern Botswana.

Atmosphere

The mood is one of tranquil bush camp, removed from Chobe's main circuits. The lodge merges the spirit of traditional safari camps with modern comfort, without venturing into haute-luxe territory. Evenings unfold around the campfire, where guides share their day's observations. A library devoted to African wildlife and flora allows you to deepen what you've witnessed in the field.

Tents and capacity

The lodge comprises 12 tents: 10 doubles and 2 family units sleeping four. All rest on raised platforms, affording unobstructed views of Kwikamba Pan's surroundings and allowing wildlife observation in complete safety. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom. The family tents follow the same specifications with an additional bed and lounge corner.

  • 10 double tents
  • 2 family tents (4 persons)
  • Raised platform for each unit
  • Solar energy powers the rooms

Children are welcome from age 8 onwards. Pets are not permitted.

Services and activities

The programme centres on safari in three formats:

  • Walking safaris through mopane forests and around Kwikamba Pan, where elephants come to drink. Nogaatsa is the only sector of Chobe where you may spot oryx; the oribi, a discreet small antelope, frequents the tall grasses here.
  • Vehicle safaris along the Ngwezumba River, a migration corridor for elephant herds and buffalo.
  • Night drives on request, to observe wildlife active after sunset.

On-site amenities include an outdoor pool, bar, and a thematic wildlife and flora library.

Location and access

The lodge sits within a private concession inside Chobe National Park, approximately 80 km from the Chobe River and 60 km from Kasane Airport. A private airstrip enables arrival by light aircraft—the most practical option given its remoteness. Ground access is available via shuttle on request.

This location lends itself well to a circuit combining Chobe, the Okavango Delta, and Victoria Falls.

To combine in the region

To extend your safari experience across Botswana, several complementary lodges merit consideration: Muchenje Safari Lodge perched above the Chobe River, Elephant Valley Lodge near Kasane, or Ghoha Hills Lodge in Savuti. For central Kalahari exploration, Dinaka Camp offers striking contrast.
